Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in strength within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Combat Party
According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might seem mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team knows exactly where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
Casimir then paid off his debts and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their status as important members in the powerful family could enable the party enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This means them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in quest for Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Questers and Schemers groups.
Fans can expect finding out which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
